Linking Manchester, business and creativity
@nimble_monkey has produced a number of YouTube videos in Manchester Business School’s ‘Creativity Corner’ an emerging weekly creativity meet-up with the purpose of exploring links between Manchester, business and creativity. Applying creativity techniques to the term ‘Creativity Corner’ , thinking about a logo for the concept and discussing the prospect of a football museum replacing a creativity museum lead to @tudortweats recalling a corner kick taken by Wayne Rooney. A search for YouTube for “rooney corner” is interesting, not only to see the corner in question (see 1:37min into the video below, but also to see the creative artifacts created in homage to Rooney and the glory in football in general.
The clip above is a compilation of goals lovingly set to a music. The choice of music is interesting in the context of thinking about Urbis and the creative city in general: an (as yet uncovered?) narrative in the creativity literature is the relationship segments of the football and nightclubbing markets achieved synergies in the late 1980s though the mid to late 1990s. English DJ and club promoters took house music to the holiday destinations like Ibiza and a genre of music often referred to as Balearic House.
Fashion, football and Manchester
Web surfing from the above video shows a passion among the football fanatics for video making as well as a story connecting British urban youth culture, football, fashion and music in a way which is uniquely English which have provided boosts to fashion brands such as Stone Island and Manchester based sailing and yachting outfitters Henri Lloyd.
